Owning a business or running a blog on the side is tough. Well, running a business, in general, is tough. So imagine how it is to have a full-time job plus working 30+ additional hours on your side hustle. It can get overwhelming and stressful. That is why it's so important to have work-life balance. I know this is a popular topic since we all have busy schedules and a lot of goals. I don't have a magic recipe but I've found things that have helped me improve my work-life balance.

5 WAYS TO IMPROVE WORK-LIFE BALANCE

1 | PLAN AHEAD

I know it is hard to plan a month in advance, but it is necessary to be able to balance your life and work. Using iCal to plan ahead has helped me a lot. I plan my days by the hour and I have a monthly calendar where I write 2-3 bullets of the things I would like to accomplish during that month.

2 | STICK TO A DAILY ROUTINE

Like planning ahead, I like sticking to a daily routine. I block 2 hours every morning to do blog stuff and workout. After that, I block 8 hours to go to the office and work. In the evenings, I spend time with my boyfriend having dinner or watching an episode of our favorite show, then I get back to work for another 3-4 hours. On Fridays, I block 4-5 hours to spend time with my girlfriends and go to happy hour. During the weekends, I work in the morning and then I don't plan anything so I can spend time with my boyfriend, girlfriends, run errands, or enjoy the weekend. It is essential that you schedule a time to spend with your friends/family so you can get a break from work and enjoy life.

3 | TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

As important as it is to take the time to spend with your family and friends, it is also important to take time for yourself to recharge. For example, I love running, so when I workout this is the time I have for me, myself, and I. This is the time I unplug and don't think about my schedule. This is the time I meditate and think about me.

4 | BE PRESENT

Since I've been busier than before, it is essential for me to be present every time I'm doing something. I can't get distracted because if I do, that means that something will take me more time to finish and it will mess up my schedule. For example, when I go to my 9-5 job, I don't pay attention to my cell phone, texts, or social media. I focus on the tasks I have for that day and nothing else.

5 | DON'T STRESS IF THINGS DON'T GO ACCORDING TO PLAN

I always try to stick to my calendar, but if I can't do something during the time that it was planned, I don't stress about it. Planning a month in advance is tough because things change all the time, so you have to be mindful of that and be ok if things change.

Tell me, what else do you do to improve your work-life balance?
