Why You Need a Handmade Journal

Why You Need A Handmade Journal by Stephanie Blondet | handmade notebook, journal, paper, small business, creative entrepreneur, business owner, sale, product, photography

I know that we are living in a digital era and that there are a ton of digital notebooks options, but there is NOTHING better than to hold a handmade journal in your hands! :) Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been fascinated by art and creativity. I much preferred staying inside with my stack of coloring books, rather than going outside to play. Growing up, I took drawing, painting, dance and design classes. And, as a teenager, I was a serious notebook and pen hoarder. I’ve loved colorful and beautiful notebooks and journals since I was a kid.

Five years ago I decided to open an online store to sell these journals. I closed that store (for now) to focus on this blog and freelance work, but I have a couple of handmade journals left so I want to share them with you.

The notebooks I create are not the ones that you can find at a mall. These notebooks are unique, with a different abstract painting on every cover created with different personalities in mind. I create them so my lovely customers can write their ideas, inspirations, and goals. I want my fellow creative entrepreneurs to follow their dreams and live the life they want to live. With these journals, you will feel unique and special to make those dreams come true.

Friends and therapist are great, but when you are going through something in life, the best way to get everything out of your system right away is by writing it down. I keep one of these journals and use it as a diary every time I'm going through something. It helps me calm down and look at the situation from a different perspective.

Every time my creative juices are running, I need to write everything down. That's why I keep one of my small journals in my purse. Sometimes I don't even think about what I'm writing or if it makes sense. It doesn't matter the first time you write everything down. You can always go back, check what you wrote, and improve your ideas.

When I was in school studying web development, one of our instructors used to say "before you contact us with questions, try writing down your problem. You'll probably find the answer on your own". I have to say, this is so true. Every time I'm stuck with a web development problem, I write it down and read it a couple of times. 90% of the time, I find the answers without having to ask a fellow developer. We can use this technique in life too. I keep handmade journals for everything. One for personal development, one for professional development, one for creativity, etc. If I'm going through a situation in life, like I mentioned above, I write it down. Sometimes I take a break from it if I'm stuck, but most of the time I find answers when I get back to it.

Since I have a handmade journal for every part of my life, I always like to go back to the first pages to track my progress. There is a sense of accomplishment every time you set goals and know you have completed them. I also like to go back to see how much I've grown and changed. I strongly suggest you keep a journal for your goals and inspirations. Since I’m extremely passionate about my art, I carefully think about every piece that I create.

I hope you like them, and I really hope they motivate you to follow your dreams!

Please contact me if you are interested in one of these handmade journals, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
